![]() ![]() Perhaps if you ripped each BD to a separate hard drive, maybe you would see a near 100% scaling but I doubt it. The MKV format can store multiple video/audio tracks with all meta-information and preserve chapters. It converts the video clips from proprietary (and usually encrypted) disc into a set of MKV files, preserving most information but not changing it in any way. First I'm assuming you're ripping to the same hard drive, meaning it now has to write 2 streams at a time rather than 1 and you are also adding to I/O overhead. MakeMKV is a format converter, otherwise called 'transcoder'. It can play any video and audio files, network streams and DVD ISOs, like the classic. Direct streaming enables instant playback of blu-ray and DVD discs without converting them to MKV first - while less interesting for DVD it is quite usable for blu-ray since it enables blu-ray playback on Linux and Mac OS X directly from optical disc. Currently this feature is highly experimental. ![]() Does anyone know how to get both drives working simultaneously? Or is there an easy way to set up a batch, so that MakeMkv copies one after another automatically with respective settings? Even if it did allow you to rip 2 Blu-Ray at a time, why would you? I know you think that each BD would rip at normal speed thus finishing your ripping task twice as fast but the truth is that more likely each rip would take twice as long. Both my VLC and MakeMKV are in the Mac applications folder In VLC. This package uses the FFmpeg to package media content for online streaming such as DASH and HLS. Starting from version 1.4.9 MakeMKV supports direct video streaming. Bummer… MakeMKV detects both drives, but when I start ripping with one the other makeMKV instance does not let me scan the second drive… The scan button freezes. Ok, so I checked MakeMKV's Revision history and it turns out they actually did remove streaming in v1.14.0 stating that you could use VLC instead (Even though you can't even open Blu-rays on VLC without extensive configuration that may or may not even work. Since I was able to open up two MakeMKV windows, I guessed I could rip multiple discs at a time with multiple drives. In order to speed up the progress I added a second BluRay drive. Ok, so I checked MakeMKVs Revision history and it turns out they actually did remove streaming in v1.14.
